The first edition · Mid-Autumn 2026

For one night, the lorong belongs to you.

Lepak jer lah! Every lorong has its stories, in every generation. On 26 September we kickstart our first Mid-Autumn halal event — bringing Chinese, Malay and Indian neighbours to the same table, over the same mooncake.

26 Sept 2026  |  7:00PM onwards  |  Lorong Petaling 2  |  Free entry

What is this

It’s not a gathering. It’s a lepak event.

Come alone if you want — most people will be. Sit down, eat something, talk to whoever is on the next stool. Leave whenever you like.

Free entry, no ticket

Nothing to buy, nothing to book. RSVP just helps us count chairs and mooncake.

Nobody performing

No stage and no performance. Chairs, lanterns, mooncake, and a lane that’s usually empty.

8🐇

The lane

This lorong was built for rubbish.

Back lanes in Kuala Lumpur weren’t made for people. They were made for night-soil carts, deliveries, drains and fire escapes — the part of the shophouse nobody was meant to see.

On the 26th it gets a different job. KL has hundreds of lanes like this, nearly all of them dark after 7pm. We’re starting with one.

Where Lorong Petaling 2, off Jalan Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.
Way in Enter Petaling Street from the Four Points hotel end. From there you’ll start seeing the lantern decorations — follow them in.
Getting here Pasar Seni (LRT Kelana Jaya / MRT Kajang) — about a 5-minute walk. Plaza Rakyat (LRT Ampang / Sri Petaling) — about 6 minutes. Parking around Chinatown fills up, so come by rail if you can.
One step to lock your seat

Save your stool.

Tell us who’s coming so we put out enough chairs, and enough mooncake. Takes under a minute — and you can still just walk in on the night.

Common questions

Things people ask

Is it really free?
Yes. No ticket, nothing to buy, nothing to book. It’s a community project — RSVP only helps us count chairs.
Do I have to RSVP?
No — you can simply turn up on the night. RSVPing early just means we’ve prepared for you.
Can I come alone?
Yes — most people will be. Sit anywhere, talk to whoever is next to you, leave whenever you like. Nobody there knows each other yet.
Is there food?
Light refreshments only — the tea and mooncake tasting is at 9:00 PM. Please have dinner before you arrive.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes, families are welcome — the rabbit hunt is built for it. Keep an eye on little ones: it’s a working back lane with shop doors, drains and deliveries.
What if it rains?
We go ahead. Bring an umbrella — there’s shelter under the five-foot ways along the street. A wet lorong photographs beautifully anyway.
Can I take photos?
Please do. Just ask before you photograph a shopfront or someone’s back door — people live and work here, and a quick nod goes a long way.
